System Overview:

Medical Financial Assistance and Reimbursement System (MedFARS) is a web-based application used to process patient information related to medical reimbursement and financial assistance. MedFARS security layers includes user authentication, secure socket layer communication, role-based access control and encrypted data storage.

Security Module:

The security module provides authentication and authorization for MEDFARS with full audit trails for every change made to the system. The security module design ensures that the system is HIPAA compliant.

Administrative Support:

Control Tables

The administrative support module contains the control or look-up functions to ensure data integrity across the entire system. Utilization of this normalized architecture is standard database design.

Demographics:

Household Information
Personnel Information
Patient Information

Three types of information are maintained by the demographics module. Household information is common to all family members, while personnel information represents each individual. If a person is a patient, then that information is collected as well.

Financial Assistance:

Power User Interface

There are two points of entry for the financial assistance information. First, patients can enter their information directly on the Patient Web Application. Additionally, healthcare personnel can enter the same and additional information with the power user interface.
 

Reimbursement:

Transactions

Information specific to an individual patient’s visit to a healthcare facility is entered and maintained in the reimbursement module. As the status of the transaction changes due to eligibility assessment, the record is updated.

Reports:

The Financial Assistance module and the Reimbursement module have several reports that provide information that is easily accessible. Delivery and format are completely configurable.
